Stanford CyberText

Predicting the future of text technologies by analyzing their past

Main content start

The CyberText Technologies Project catalogues the history of dominant text-based human communication devices in an effort to identify common traits. We use those traits to discover the patterns that can predict the future of modern-day technologies.

Which text technolgoes are going to succeed and how can they best be developed? The answer lies in the patterns of the past.

In the spotlight

Having created a meticulous dataset of major text technologies through history, our project is now in its second phase. Learn more about how we move from this dataset to employing big data in order to test and verify the patterns we have found.

Our team

We are an interdisciplinary and multinational team, working together to understand the patterns behind the history of text technologies.
